Applicants must fulfill every single condition listed below to qualify for BITP 2026–27:
B.E. / B.Tech / M.Sc. / M.Tech / M.V.Sc. / MBA in Biotechnology or Bioinformatics. Students admitted under DBT Post-Graduate teaching programs in Biotechnology are also fully eligible.
Candidates who completed their degree program in 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible to apply.
Minimum aggregate score of 50% marks (or equivalent CGPA) from a recognized Indian university/institute.

Shortlisting of candidates is transparent and strictly merit-based:
- Computer-Based Test (CBT): Candidates participate in an All-India online examination containing multiple-choice questions (MCQs) testing core technical subject knowledge, analytical abilities, bioprocess engineering concepts, bioinformatics tools, and general aptitude.
- Merit Ranking & Placement Allocation: Candidates are ranked based on CBT scores. Allocations to host industrial units are finalized considering candidate rank, chosen domain preferences, and available seat quotas in training companies.
